JULIET LAYTON

People come for counselling for a variety of reasons. They may feel anxiety that they can’t make sense of, have relationship concerns, feel low or depressed, feel stuck or lack interest and motivation in life, feel perplexed how they keep finding themselves in situations that are not welcome, or they may be coming to terms with changes, traumatic situations or loss.

In our first session we will explore your reasons for seeking counselling and how we can work together to support you.

I am an Integrative Relational Counsellor and my practice is informed by psychodynamic and humanistic theories. I believe that how and what we learn about being in relationship with ourselves and others is the source of our strength and also our unhelpful patterns of being in the world. Together we will develop more of an understanding from your own lived experience, so that you can use these new insights and self-awareness to shape a richer and more satisfying present and future.

I have many years of experience as a counsellor in GP Practice, university and private practice. I have been a counselling trainer and I am a supervisor/professional consultant to those who work in counselling and medical settings. I am a senior accredited member of the BACP. I have also worked as an HR professional, coach and mediator, and as well as my counselling knowledge, skills and experience, I bring an experience of the world of work and the impact this has on our sense of ourselves and how we are in relationship.

I work with adults over 18 and with couples.

With effect from January 2023, my fee is £60-£65 for individuals and £80 for couples. I review my fees in January each year.
