ABOUT ME

I am a warm, kind and genuine counsellor. I have a gentle nature and demeanour and will always collaboratively consider your needs and what is best for you, ensuring you are heard.

I respect the trust a client puts in me when they open up and share their stories with me. I recognise how painful it can feel not to have found that space previously. Or perhaps you do have someone to talk to, but you’re still not getting from it what you need.

HOW I WORK

I work in a supportive, thoughtful and adaptive way, underpinned by a strong, instinctive understanding of psychodynamic theory and practice.

In this talking therapy, I will explore with you your presenting problems, as well as your current and past experiences and relationships. Together we look at what patterns are emerging and the links we can make. This leads to an increased self-awareness and enables us to identify what lies behind the things you repeatedly struggle with. Bringing this into consciousness allows you to make different decisions and to develop new and healthier coping mechanisms and ways of relating going forward.

Our relationship is key to this. I offer a safe, calm, empathic and confidential space where you can share whatever you need to bring and show the parts of yourself you sometimes fear revealing. I offer both long and short-term therapy, which we can discuss more at your initial session and get a feel for what has brought you to therapy and what you hope to achieve.

WHO I WORK WITH

I work with a variety of clients, including those going through a loss or bereavement, anyone experiencing anxiety, depression, loneliness, low self-esteem, social anxiety, struggles with being assertive or accessing feelings, difficulty in relationships, emotionally abusive relationships, navigating the menopause or perimenopause, and the strains of different caring roles and responsibilities.

I also work with clients who have been harmed by relationships or circumstances, including but not limited to a previous counsellor, the education system, a healthcare setting or professional, and situations within the workplace.

I work with adults over the age of 18.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

I’m a BACP registered psychodynamic therapist. I’ve completed a foundation degree in psychodynamic counselling (level 5), and I have experience of working as a counsellor in the voluntary sector before moving into private practice.

I regularly attend training events and have completed further professional development courses on topics including Neurodiversity, Disordered Eating, and Personality Disorders.

As a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I adhere to their ethical framework for good practice and their professional code of conduct.

SESSION FEES

I offer an initial consultation of 50 minutes at a reduced fee of £40. This allows me to get to know a bit about you, and it gives you the chance to see if we feel like a good fit for working together. If you would like to continue, each subsequent session is 50 minutes in length and is attended weekly on the same day and time, for which I charge £60 per session.
